Tax credit for home support for seniors
This refundable tax credit can cover up to 40% of eligible home support expenses in 2026. The rate may be reduced based on family income. It is available to people aged 70 and over, whether homeowners or tenants.
Private insurance
Many private insurance plans include partial coverage for in-home medical care (nursing care, dressings, injections, post-hospital follow-up). Coverage varies by insurer and a medical prescription is often required. Uncovered fees may still be claimable through tax credits.
